Sociedad Amigos de los Niños
At Buena Vida Coffee we see a cup of coffee as an opportunity to provide meals to children in need. That's why, for every bag purchased, we provide one meal to one child at the Sociedad Amigos de los Niños orphanage in Honduras.
Through the dedicated work of Sister Maria Rosa Leggol, Sociedad Amigos de los Niños has helped care for over 40,000 Honduran children in the past 40 years. Today's programs include:
- Over 60 homes for children ages 0-18
- HIV clinic
- Job Training Center
- Boys Farm
- Health Clinic
- Elementary School
- High School
Sister Maria Rosa Leggol
Once an orphan herself, Sister understands the needs of the poor and neglected. After taking her vows with the School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee, Wis., Sister Maria Rosa returned home to Honduras to begin what is now known as Sociedad Amigos de los Niños.
In 1964, she took in her first group of children who were living in city jails with their incarcerated parents. Forty years later, Sister and her organization have helped care for over 40,000 Honduran children. With your help we can continue to support even more.
